‘All Faiths Prayer Vigil’ held at the Kansas Firefighters Museum

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Several religious groups gathered Saturday, around 11 a.m. at the Kansas Firefighters Museum for a prayer vigil.

Groups from different religions around the community say they came together to pray for unity during tough times.

T.J.’s Forecast: Hot start to the final weekend of September

More heat and sunshine are on the way for our final weekend of September, or at least to start it off. Highs have once again topped out in the 90s across the viewing area with winds pumping in the warmth from the south.

A cold front will start to move our way late tonight into Sunday which will kick-start the changes. Overnight, lows will dip back into the 50s and 60s under increasing cloud cover.

Kansas advocates propose agency to track foster care system

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Child welfare advocates in Kansas are pushing for an independent agency to monitor the state’s troubled foster care system.

Nonprofit Kansas Appleseed has proposed creating an Office of the Child Advocate to investigate complaints and evaluate the state agency overseeing foster care.
