Brian Leverich will present Linkpendium: Ten Million and One New Ways to Discover Your Family History at the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society’s monthly meeting, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Nov. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 E. Constance St.

Libraries, genealogical/historical societies, governments, volunteer projects, and individuals have brought vast amounts of information online. Audience members will learn how to craft more effective search-engine queries, find out why even the best queries sometimes fail, and learn how to use Linkpendium’s directory and search engine to find hidden genealogical gems.

Leverich holds a Ph.D. from the Pardee RAND Graduate School. His love of history led him to genealogy four decades ago, and he was one of the pioneers of Internet genealogy in the early 1980s. He was the founding moderator of soc.genealogy.methods, the first Internet group dedicated to genealogical research methods.

He is the co-founder of and remains active as one of the principals maintaining and developing .

Special Interest Groups meet at 9:30 a.m. for New Member & Beginning Genealogy, Civil War Genealogy, Writers’ Support Group, German Ancestry, Italian Genealogy, Jewish Genealogy, French Canadian Genealogy, Scandinavian Genealogy, Computer Genealogy, and DNA.

The society’s monthly meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. and the featured speaker starts at 11 a.m. It is not necessary to be a member of the society to attend the presentation.
