In This Podcast:

Troy Larson. Host of a new podcast. “Tales of True Crime” at kfgo.com . Today we get Genetic DNA updates, A Fargo boy who grew up to become a serial killer, and a sneak preview of an update on The Zodiac Killer.

Early this summer Troy told The Drive of a Genealogical DNA case which was about to go to trial. That case has concluded and William Earl Talbott II was found guilty of murdering a young Canadian couple near Seattle 32-years ago.  Authorities matched his DNA left at the crime scene with DNA from two of his cousins in a public DNA database.

In yet another case,  Palm Beach Florida County authorities arrested Robert Hayes earlier this week for the death of a woman found strangled along a Florida road three years ago.  Police staked him out and collected a cigarette butt he discarded and used the DNA to connect him to at least three other murders that happened in the mid-2000s.

And finally, in the GDNA casebook, Donald McQuade was arrested last month in Oregon for the murder of 16 year old Shelley Connolly in Alaska in 1978.  He was caught when genetic genealogy matched his DNA to a first cousin in Florida, then authorities built out the family tree and narrowed it down to three brothers.  Donald McQuade was the only brother in Alaska at the time.
