Cabell County mom accused of fake abduction tale to appear in court

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – A court appearance has been set for a West Virginia woman accused of falsely reporting that an Egyptian man tried to kidnap her daughter from a shopping mall.

The Huntington Herald-Dispatch reports 24-year-old Santana Renee Adams is set to appear in court Thursday on a false report of an emergency charge. She faces up to six months in jail, if convicted.

Automatic Voter Registration Delayed in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W. Va. (WOWK) — Tuesday, September 24, marked Voter Registration Day, but actually signing up and registering to vote may be a thing of the past in West Virginia thanks to automatic voter registration, or AVR.

Currently, West Virginians have to sign up to register to vote. Automatic voter registration would change that by automatically registering voters, who could then “opt-out.”

Mack’s shoes opening in Downtown Huntington Oct. 7

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — It’s been a quarter of a century since Downtown Huntington has had a dedicated dress + casual shoe store and that’s about to change.

Mack’s is slated to have its grand opening Monday, Oct. 7. It’s in the 900 block of 3rd Avenue, across from Pullman Square. The store will carry men’s and women’s dress and casual shoes, outerwear, leather bags, socks, and other accessories.
