Courthouse closed for observance of MLK Day

The courthouse will be closed on 1/16/2023 to observe MLK Day. Trash will not be picked up on Monday. Trash pickup will resume on Tuesday 1/17/23 and should be caught up with its regular schedule for the following week.

City offices to close for MLK Day

All administrative offices of the city of El Dorado, including those of the fire and police departments, will be closed Monday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Fire and police services will operate as usual. The city’s garbage collection service will run a day behind schedule this week, starting with Ward 1 on Tuesday.

United Way annual meeting

The United Way of Union County will hold its Annual Meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17 at the El Dorado/Union County Chamber of Commerce.

United Way contributors are invited to attend the meeting. New members will be elected to the United Way Board of Directors and results of this year’s campaign will be announced.

Genealogical Society starting DNA discussions Tuesday

The Union County Genealogical Society will resume its DNA discussions at Barton Library on Tuesday, Jan. 17, starting at 5:30 p.m. Mitochondria and Y testing will be discussed. Those who have tested are asked to share their story, and those with in-depth knowledge of DNA testing and results are welcome to share information.
