The Phantom VSN 2 Now Comes Dressed in Classic Hypervenom Colors

March 05, 2020 – The Nike Phantom VSN 2 Future DNA Hypervenom brings classic Nike Football design to one of the brand’s latest on-pitch innovations.

Originally released in 2013, the Hypervenom was dropped in an iconic orange and black colorway with a skull and crossbones graphic to signal an attacking on-pitch style to defenders. The Phantom VSN 2 Future DNA Hypervenom channels the spirit of its predecessor with throwback colorways and is updated with texture placed exactly where control is needed — on the instep for trapping, and along the outside of the foot for creative dribbling and flicking passes.

Additional modern updates on this classic boot include a flexible mesh layer inside the cleat that adjusts perfectly to your foot and stays snug, while the hidden lacing system tightens easily and evenly with one pull, then stays tucked away.

The boot is the debut release from Nike Football’s Future DNA series, in which Nike’s current performance boots each pay homage to a classic Nike Football design.

The Nike Phantom VSN 2 Future DNA Hypervenom is available today on nike.com.

NikeCourt Readies Tech Challenge Revival

  • NikeCourt Tech Challenge 20 0

February 21, 2020 – Three decades on, and the Air Tech Challenge II still issues goosebumps to tennis and sneaker fans alike. Synonymous with the rebellious spirit of its most famous wearer, Andre Agassi, the shoe defined ’90s attitude on the court and introduced both an iconic tooling and an unmistakable upper pattern. The latter characterizes NikeCourt’s revival of the Tech Challenge — a new, Max-Air-equipped court shoe highlighted by those familiar vibrant graphics.

A modified herringbone pattern provides the NikeCourt Tech Challenge 20 excellent traction. The aforementioned Max Air unit offers cushioning in the heel and helps create a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The medial side of the Air unit is hidden — helping to provide durability during slides — and ankle support is augmented by an asymmetrical collar.

As in the original Air Tech Challenge II, the classic “Nike Air” logo appears on the heel.

The NikeCourt Tech Challenge 20 releases February 26 for Nike Members and will be available February 29 on nike.com and through select retailers.

Jordan Brand Taps Into Its Italian Pedigree

February 13, 2020 – The Jumpman’s connection to Italian fashion reaches back to 1986, when the Air Jordan II’s manufacturing process both followed from and jumpstarted the brand’s interest in fine Italian craftsmanship. The Air Jordan I Mid Milan deepens that connection by referencing the capital city’s spires and gothic architecture in a sun-glinted pastel color scheme. The shoe comes with a MLN hangtag.

The Air Jordan I Mid Milan is available for pre-release February 19 at One Block Down in Milan. A global release follows on February 22.

The Nike Air Zoom BB NXT Accelerates Energy Return in Basketball

  • Nike 2020 Forum // Zoom BB NEXT% 2
  • Nike 2020 Forum // Zoom BB NEXT% 1

February 05, 2020 – For 2020, Nike Basketball is evolving the brand’s industry-leading work to improve energy return through footwear innovation. Ross Klein, Senior Creative Director for Nike Basketball footwear, led a team on a mission to evolve Nike Air — our most efficient cushioning platform for energy return — and create the Nike Air Zoom BB NXT.

“The game and the athletes have evolved in this new era of basketball,” says Klein. “We now have athletes that are ‘positionless’ and generate the values of all positions on court. Within the NBA alone these positionless athletes face a grueling journey, starting with the offseason training, then preseason, and into the 82-game season, playoffs, Finals. Fatigue is the enemy and endurance is the goal.”

Staying fresh at the game’s critical, closing moments is key. With that in mind, the Nike Air Zoom BB NXT introduces a unified system of full-length Nike REACT foam, plate and Nike Air Zoom pods to provide basketball players at all levels with impact protection and energy return.

“The shoe is similar to a car,” says Klein. “There are many parts and pieces, each doing a very specific job, but working in unison.”

The shoe’s three leading performance-driven benefits are outstanding energy return, optimized cushioning and strength. Specific innovations include:

  • Exposed Nike React foam under the heel provides a soft, responsive sensation
  • A thin plate positioned above the foam provides torsional rigidity
  • Two Air Zoom units positioned under the ball of the foot continually absorb an athlete’s energy and provide great responsiveness
  • The upper is a lightweight mesh with a tactile, textured print that provides support and durability where athletes need it
  • A plush foam tongue and padded collar with a notch to support the Achilles tendon provides a comfortable fit

The Nike Air Zoom BB NXT releases July 1.

Nike Air Zoom Viperfly

February 05, 2020 – The Nike Air Zoom Viperfly represents a new paradigm of performance on the track.

Designed specifically for the 100 meter, the truest test of pure human speed, the spike incorporates an innovative new carbon plate — produced by a new process, Custom Fiber Placement (CFP), which allows for varying flexibility within the plate — and an unmistakable forefoot Nike Air Zoom unit. This composition, developed alongside the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%, was designed to provide responsiveness and energy. It follows deep study of the strategy and performance of the race, and focuses attention on what athletes need most in the last 20 meters of the sprint.

The Nike Air Zoom Viperfly is completed by an Atomknit (a new version of Nike Flyknit) upper, which maximizes heel lockdown and decreases material waste. In addition, the foam in the heel provides impact protection and aids the transition from full-speed sprint to post-race walk.

The Nike Air Zoom Viperfly will be available as part of Nike’s race day footwear offering in summer 2020.

Nike Air Zoom Victory

  • Air Zoom Victory 0
  • Air Zoom Victory 1

February 05, 2020 – Designed for 800 meter to 10k races, the Nike Air Zoom Victory is a complete paradigm shift in distance track spike design.

Inspired by the Nike Alphafly NEXT%, the spike is built with a combination of Nike ZoomX foam, carbon fiber plate and Nike Air Zoom. The latter is supplied by a unique welded Nike Zoom Air sole, which divides the unit into two separate pockets, provides responsive impact protection and allows for a smooth transition without sacrificing control on the track. The Nike ZoomX foam is employed as a thin midsole between the carbon plate and ground, and the full system is tuned to minimize energy loss and maximize response. The spike’s upper is formed from Nike Atomknit, a new version of Nike Flyknit.

The Nike Air Zoom Victory is part of Nike’s race day footwear offering in summer 2020.
